My name is Harm Korten. I have been living in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands, for the past 20+ years.

My professional career in IT started around 2001. I was offered chance to enter a developer traineeship, allowing me to professionally do what I was already doing privately .... programming! After working for several years as a developer on local government software, I moved to Vivens. Vivens was a webdevelopment company, where I started as a PHP developer.

Late 2005, Vivens became a Salesforce.com partner and I reluctantly set my first steps into the cloud. It took me just 1 Salesforce training in Dublin to become a Salesforce/Force.com enthusiast. This enthusiasm has only grown exponentially ever since. I have been living and breathing Force.com from that moment on, witnessing it's evolution from a smart CRM application to the full blown cloud platform it is today.

Over the past decade+, I have been involved in dozens of Force.com projects, covering a wide spectrum of roles, scopes and sizes. From business consultant to developer and from trainer to integration architect and virtually anything in between. Along the way I have collected some Salesforce certifications, check them out here. From 2009 to 2015 I travelled the world as an authorized technical Salesforce instructor, for the dev401, dev501 and dev502 courses.

In 2012, after Vivens had been dissolved after an acquisition, I moved to CRMWaypoint. Like Vivens, CRMWaypoint was a relatively small and informal Salesforce "boutique". After 2 years at CRMWaypoint, another acquisition took place. This time the acquisition was done by Accenture. In 2017 I was asked to join a start-up, Appsolutely.nl. On the first of February 2017, my Salesforce adventure continued here.

Currently my primary interests are Force.com, APEX, VisualForce, Lightning, Web API's, Javascript, Node.js, Heroku, NLP (Luis.ai, Wit.ai etc), IoT/Prototyping, Alexa AVS, Microsoft Azure and the Microsoft Bot Framework. Outside tech, I am interested in football (Feyenoord), chess, gaming, (US) politics and political philosophy.

Thanks for visiting my site. I hope to regularly update it with new blogs ;)
